The Reception Baseline Assessment became statutory in September 2021.

The Assessment is an activity-based assessment of pupils’ starting points in: language, communication and literacy and mathematics.

The assessments are carried out within the first 6 weeks of pupils starting reception but no numerical score will be shared and the data will only be used to inform progress in later years.

Information gained from the assessments is used to inform planning and teaching in the first term.
