The Duston School is looking to appoint a Higher Level Teaching Assistant to add additional capacity to the primary phase. Duties and Responsibilities

• To contribute positively to the ethos of the school.

• To work independently and collaboratively to ensure than curriculum planning is effective in enabling high levels of challenge and achievement.

• To teach National Curriculum objectives to individuals, small groups and whole classes as and when required.

• To organise and manage a safe, stimulating learning environment and resources, including displays.

• To evaluate and adjust lessons, as needed, to ensure progression.

• To monitor, assess and report on pupil’s achievement, progress and development.

• To liaise with relevant professionals and provide information on pupils, as appropriate.

• To support children’s social and emotional well-being and report any concerns to the class teacher.

• To manage the behaviour of children within the framework of the school’s behaviour policy.

• To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

• To supervise individuals and groups of children throughout the day, including supervision in the classroom, playground and dining areas.

• To attend to pupils personal needs and implement personal programmes including: medical needs, physical hygiene and welfare matters with appropriate training/support.

• To escort and supervise pupils on educational trips and out of school activities.

• To be responsible for the preparation, maintenance and control of stocks of materials and resources.

• To provide basic first aid, when needed.

• To be available to cover classes at such times as necessary.

• To fully engage in meetings, training and performance management, as required.

• To maintain good relationships with children and colleagues and work as part of a team.

• To demonstrate and promote equal opportunities and be active in eliminating behaviour and practices which could be discriminatory.

• To use data effectively to monitor the attainment and progress of all groups of children.

• To administer national and school assessments thoroughly and to use the information to improve standards.
